Week 8

Today was an exciting day. We had another sonogram to make sure Baby Guinan was going as expected. As I laid there watching the screen, I began to panic a bit that we might not see a heart beat. That was only for a moment. There it was a light little flicker. Tears filled my eyes! Baby Guinan had also grown from a white castle burger to a gummy bear. Dave was very excited to see thing were moving forward. Dr. Bethal insured us that the heart beat would look stronger as the baby grows more but he was very happy with what he had seen. He wished us good luck as this was are last appointment with him and said I would now start having my OB appointments with Dr. Klose if I choose to except his referral. So we parted ways with calcium for my leg cramps, prenatal vitamins and more lab work to get done. Dave was happy to hear that things were going well because he came home with a gift for me. The gift was pickles and ice cream! I enjoyed the pickles however just thinking of the ice cream made sick to my tummy. I will be much better once this morning sickness goes away. I would also just love some energy to clean the house. Being on bed rest has taken its toll on my house.

Week 7

This week was very fun. Dave and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary. We went to Disneyland. Disneyland is one of my favorite places. One I just can't wait to take our child to. This trip was very different from our normal visits. I found out that I get very tired very quickly. Also with being on bed rest in the afternoons I had to stop for long periods of time to rest. So during one of those blocks of time Dave and I went to the movies. Morning sickness in Disneyland is also an experience in its self. You don't want to get sick in front of children but know that you will never make it though the lines in the bathroom so you have to sneaky to say the least. I did very much enjoy the food from every food cart in the park. On the way home Dave and I stoped at Anderson Pea Soup.

Week 6

This week has been very hard on us. I have had a lot of bleeding, spotting and cramping. Dave and I have been worried that we may miscarry again. Dave has been very protective of me and what I do or try to do. He says this is because he can't control what happens but at least he can control what I do to an extent and it makes him feel better. The doctor has ordered me to bed rest the moment I get off work or the second cramping starts I am to put my feet up. I find myself worried more this week then excited. I'm told that this is normal and I might find it to be this way for most of the first trimester. I hope that this is not true.

Second Doctor's Visit 5/7/09 Week 5

Today was our second doctors appointment with Dr. Bethal. We saw our baby today. Today was 4 weeks and 5 days. It was so tiny but amazing to think that I actually have someone growing in me. Right now doctors would descrired my baby as the gestational sac. It looks more like a white castle burger to me.
Doctor Bethal went over my labs and decided that we should up my progesterone from 50 Mg's a day to 200 Mg's a day. My progesterone was still not were it needed to be. He also instructed me to take it easy still as I still didn't look like I was a 100% well yet from the phenumoa. Last Dr. Bethal told us that he would be starting his own prat ice and he didn't think that they would be taking my insurance at the new office. This news made Dave and I sad as we both really like Dr. Bethal and trusted him. I have to admit that this cause a bit of stress for us. All and all it was a great day because we got to see you on the sonogram screen and Dr. Bethal say things appear to be going very well and that our expected due date is 1/1/2010.

4/27/09 First Doctors Appointment WEEK 4

Well I have been suffering from morning and night sickness and have been exhausted however today was a very exciting day. I couldn't wait to get to the doctors. Dr. Bethal was very excited to see us back and pregnant. We did the normal things, pregnancy test, weight check, ultrasound and question and answer session. It was still very early in the pregnancy so we couldn't see baby Guinan yet on the Ultrasound, but we did see some black shadowing the shape of a boomerang that Dr. Bethal said was where the pregnancy is growing. Very cool. I have no idea how he could find it or tell but was sure glad he could. He sent me off for some lab work and wanted to make sure that I had gotten my Progesterone script filled and was taking it. He than switched all my medications for the pneumonia to some that were baby friendly and ordered me back to bed to get better. Dave and I left for the lab.

On the way to the lab we decided that I should tell my bosses right away as we knew there where many doctor appointments in the next few weeks. So after my labs I went to work and spoke to both bosses at the same time. I told them the news and that we didn't want anyone else to know due to the high chances I could miscarry. They both took the news very well and agreed that I should not do swallowing studies and said don't worry we will have someone else cover you, you don't need to be down in Radiology. I was thankful as that was a concern of mine. I was then off to bed again and felt relaxed that work took the news so well.

We're Pregnant. 4/22/09

It's April 22, I have been in bed for two days now, sick with pneumonia. Feeling terrible and very sick to my stomach I check over all my medications for side effects; 4 in total. While doing this I start to wonder if I'm pregnant. A smile spreads across my face as I walk to the bathroom to take a pregnancy test. 2 minutes later, I read the test and shock hits. I'M PREGNANT! No it's got to be my medicine. So I took several more. PREGNANT PREGNANT, WOW that was fast. We were just told in March that we could try again. My doctor had me doing several tests to find out what cause my miscarriage in Sept of 2008 and had instructed Dave and I to wait till all the tests came in. I have what is called Luteal Phase Defect. Basically means no trouble getting pregnant, I just have trouble keeping the pregnancy going through the first Trimester. Anyways back to the wonderful news. I'M PREGNANT! oh my god I'm pregnant, a minute later I'm on the phone calling my OB to schedule an appointment and to find out if my medication could be or is hurting my baby. My OB's nurse Sue was wonderful and took care of me by calming me down and going though each medication with me. My appointment was scheduled right away.

Now how do I tell Dave I'm pregnant? I was very sick so I did not have a lot of energy but wanted it to be special. I decide to make a banner on some baby shower wrapping paper that said welcome home Daddy! Thankfully I could do it from bed. I then made some Cinnamon Buns and put them on the table with the many pregnancy tests I took, the banner, my script from the doctor that I had to start taking right away and my easy bake oven. I waited 3 hours for Dave to come home. I couldn't wait! We he came home I told him I had an itch on my back I couldn't reach, and that I need him to scratch it. He sat down next to me and scratching my back. As he was scratching my fake itch I told him that I didn't think we had bought enough crab feed tickets for our guest. He said why? I said well we have Kelly and Phil, Robert and Torrie, Janet and Spence and me you and our baby! Dave said oh Kelly had her baby and she's bring her? Wasn't she due in Aug? I said no, I say me you and OUR BABY! Dave than started to scratch my back really hard. and then said your pregnant. I gave him a hug and said Yup!
I then told him to go look at the table so he could see my banner. He smiled kissed me and than said you need to stop taking you medicine and call the doctor. I told him I had and my appointment is this day and that he needed to go fill my prescription. He left and came home with some sparkling apple side and champagne for us to celebrate. I then went back to bed to bed to work on getting better and was Very happy!
